Sitting on the bus I thought I could write a post. Our lab has now moved to UCSD, the University of California San Diego. Parking there is expensive so we decided to be Swiss and commute by bus and bicycle. The bus is free and has a bike rack. So we go by bus in the morning and bike home at night.
The lab move was a royal pain as expected. Not so much the physical move as we had movers but all the organizational stuff. Bureaucracy! After a month or so we are almost back to functioning normal. The labs are old and terrible but the campus is great.
Last weekend was memorial day, a three day weekend. We took the train (called Surfliner) to Santa Barbara. Nice train ride along the coast. There we explored the wine country, did some wine tasting and eating and drinking in general. From Santa Barbara we rented a car and drove north along the coast on highway 1. San Luis Obispo, Big Sur to Monterey. Beautiful drive on an almost alpine road along a rugged coastline. In Monterey we visited the famous aquarium before ending the trip in San Francisco where we met friends for diner. On Tuesday we got to the airport shortly after 6 in the morning just to find out that our flight was canceled. We were re-booked for a flight at 8 in the evening. Not quite what we had in mind and we managed to get a flight later in the morning and arrived happily in San Diego at noon. Pictures will follow soon.

Reminds me of our own lab moving which was a nightmare to plan and to do. Good that you're enjoying the new campus and with the bike riding you both gonna be fit very soon ! Kisses to Selina
