After an expensive breakfast in the Hotel (How come cheap Hotels always have complimentary breakfast while expensive ones don’t?) we headed towards Yellowstone National Park. We passed through Teton National Park with only short photo stops on the way and arrived at the south entrance around noon. We had lunch in a restaurant that looked more like a church community room but it had a nice view of Lake Yellowstone. To escape the crowds we expected for the long weekend (Labor day) we went to the touristy place first: Old Faithful. This is the most famous geyser in the park due to its predictable eruption times. It is located among other geysers, hot springs and pools. It is really amazing to wander through a landscape of fuming holes, bubbling ponds and sputtering water fountains. The colors of the ponds are truly awesome and Shinji was in photo-heaven. We were lucky enough to see not only the eruption of Old Faithful but also of bigger but less predictable geysers such as the Castle, Grand and another one… We spent the night in West Yellowstone at a nice Motel with moose and bear flair.Thursday, 10 September 2009
