This weekend was exciting! We went to see our first NFL football game. Live in the stadium. We got special tickets through friends who work for Novartis. They offered their employees tickets to the Chargers game for $20. This is less than 1/3 of the price. Yes, football is damn expensive! We were 10 friends and had a detailed plan. The first two cars left at 7am to be at the stadium when the gates open. No, we didn't have to drive far. Normally it's a 15 minutes drive but it's madness on game days. The Qualcomm Stadium where the San Diego Chargers play holds more than 70'000 people! This Sunday it was 66'768... I think I have never seen that many people in one place. So we were in the parking lot at 9.30. And that's where the real American experience starts: Tailgating.

Everyone sets up grills, tents, chairs etc. The game didn't start until 1 so we had plenty of time to drink beer and eat hot dogs : )

To enter the stadium and see all those people was very impressive. The game itself was pretty far away and like most sports easier to follow on TV... We won against the Kansas City Chiefs 31-0. An important victory towards the qualification for the playoffs.
After the game we had Selina's lab Christmas party. Casual get together at her boss' place with white elephant gift exchange. I think I got the best thing. A USB drive in the form of a LEGO man.

Great photo of the stadium ! I experienced a game in the Superdome in New Orleans with 95.000 people this is really freaky ! The conference champion title is still reachable for the Chargers ;o) As for the Saints they're not much chance with the Falcons leading 11-2 but who knows ;o)
Go Saints Go !
