Left San Diego Thursday morning to fly to Louis Armstrong New Orleans airport via George Bush Houston airport. Funny combination... Beautiful view on the approach to New Orleans.
We stayed at the Hilton right on the Mississippi river and got lucky that the receptionist was a young German who was happy to give us a room facing the river. Selina found a friend on the flight as usual... Dale from Wyoming who met his son to go fishing.
We enjoyed a first Cajun/Creole diner before meeting our friend Josh a New Orleans local. Almost local. He is originally from Iowa and did his PhD at the Swiss Tropical Institute where we met him. He took us to a small club in Uptown called "Le Bon Temps Roule" where we saw the Soul Rebels a Brass Band.

Friday was a bad weather day. And we spent it like one: Sleeping in, exploring the city, eating the famous beignets of Cafe du Monde and watching TV at the hotel. The night we went to Frenchmen St. Definitely one of our favorites! It's a small street away from the famous French Quarter and Bourbon St. It has a fine selection of clubs, bars and small restaurants. We enjoyed some nice Blues at the Spotted Cat before we went for diner at Adolfo's. Fantastic food and atmosphere! Then a night cap at the Blue Nile with some amazing funk before heading home to our room with a view.
