New Orleans part 2

New Orleans has great houses. We wandered from Uptown to the Lower Garden District exploring the architecture in the neighborhoods. Selina is now constantly checking housing in New Orleans on Craigslist, a website that advertises housing and apartments. Selina got a foot massage at the Audubon Park from a reflexologist... I knew that he was a scam when he tried to hide from park security that drove by... Selina didn't realize until later but was happy to pay $10 as she did actually enjoy the massage. And this guy was the first one to tell her she got nice feet! That's worth $10. Ate a fantastic gumbo and po'boy for lunch before returning to the hotel for a late afternoon nap. Rested we went to the Bachanal in the Bywater district to meet up with our friend Josh. The Bachanal was celebrating St. Andrew's day, a polish festival. Josh won the sausage eating competition last year and felt obliged to be there again. And it was totally worth it! We enjoyed the polish food and beers. The Vodka a little less. People were really fun and we got to know several people as usual. That's one of the best things in the US. Everyone is open and interactive.

Sunday was the big swamp tour. I got so excited and jumped around in the hotel room that I twisted my back and could hardly move for the next two days... You should have seen me on the boat tour: Look! Over there a racoon! Me, barely able to turn around, aaah where?! It was a great swamp tour and we got to see a lot of animals except alligators. The driver who picked us up at the hotel was talking nonstop for 1 hour. She was hilarious talking about Katrina, food, the scary bridges and the fantastic new mayor.

We ended a beautiful weekend with another typical Cajun/Creole diner before flying back to San Diego early Monday morning.
