Rally in Death Valley

Thanksgiving was great! We spent two days in Death Valley National Park. What a surreal landscape! It often felt like being on the moon. Death Valley is a big desert on the border to Nevada. The first morning we got up at 5am to see the sunrise in the park. After driving for more than one hour we arrived at the viewpoint and realized it was freeeezing cold! We are not used to such temperatures anymore... We spent the next two days driving around in the park preferrably on dirt roads. Glad we bought a 4 wheel drive. It was fun! The night we stayed in Nevada very close to the nuclear testing site of the US army... For Mulder and Scully fans, area 51 (rumors say that's where the army has UFOs) is located within this site!
After two days with impressive views we drove to an impressively big city, LA. We visited our dear friend Diana where we stayed for the night. Sunday we went to the Getty Center with her. This is an art gallery close to Beverly hills. Amazing views over LA and a lot of interesting art. We realized that we are a little spoilt from the Beyeler Foundation though. After an excellent diner in Pasadena we had to leave Diana and head back to San Diego. Traffic in the US is insane! We are used now to 5-lane freeways but it is always astonishing how busy the roads are. Now we are back to work and I try to activate my new treasure: an iPhone...
We will soon post pictures of our trip. In the meantime have a good week and see you all soon!
