This weekend started off beautiful! Around 23°C and sunshine brought to us by the warm Santa Ana winds from the desert. Quite a difference to the last two weeks in Switzerland! And what a privilege to enjoy fresh powder snow one week and warm sand the next. We played beach volley the whole afternoon until we were completely exhausted.
Otherwise we had a good first week back in the lab. Was good to see all the colleagues and friends again. And we also had the first visitors already in the first week of January: My PhD supervisor Gerd with his family. We had a fun evening with Sushi here in PB. Gerd then also came to see Scripps on Friday after his family had left. And he served us all the updates and news from the Swiss Tropical Institute while we served bread and Swiss cheese at our place. We also got to celebrate another success of Nico who had his latest paper accepted for publication at one of the best journals. Congrats again!
