San Diego winter

What a week! Sunshine and temperatures between 20 and 25ºC. That's when we enjoy our new home most. Especially when comparing to the icy temperatures in Europe. But a nice winter day with snow is actually as beautiful. Two weeks ago I was still in Switzerland... unbelievable. Seem salready far away. Not the memories though! At first I thought it will be hard to be back and go to work but as soon as Selina picked me up at the airport it felt like home. And with this weather and the waves that we currently have... Speaking about surfing, we went out yesterday. The first time after 6 weeks. Uh, it felt good but there was not much juice in our muscles. Paddling for waves felt more like splashing with the arms. The same again today. But I always enjoy being in the water and today the waves where quite big (overhead on the sets). I love to be out in big (not too big!) waves. Saturday we had a surf BBQ at some friends place, who live right by a surf spot. Was nice to hop into the Jacuzzi after the surf while food was prepared! But we both got a little too much sun, which resulted in a slight headache and a relatively quiet Saturday night.
This week was restaurant week in San Diego. Many places offer a 3-course menu for a fixed price. This is usually a good opportunity to go to a fancy restaurant. That's what we did on Thursday and we had:

Seared scallops with a mushroom that I cannot translate (Eierschwaemme)
Tuna tartar

Grilled swordfish on a lemon basmati risotto
Filet mignon with a confit of duck ravioli

Mohr im Hemd, a sort of chocolate cake without flour
Crepes with sour cherries and marzipan

It was excellent but unfortunately, it was somehow heavy and we didn't sleep that well. That's the price you have to pay. Not being able to lift the arms or standing up without help is the price you have to pay for going to the gym (sporadically)!
Have a great week folks!
