Lost money, credit card and missed flight - Vegas baby!

Finally after a week of rain and storm the sky clears up just in time for our flight to Las Vegas! Vegas is 500km from San Diego, which means 5h drive or less than an hour flight. Before enjoying a beautiful view of the snowed in mountains we got the first rapped security announcement. Yes, the flight attendant rhymed the whole security thing about life vests and masks. The beat was provided by his iPod and everyone stomping and clapping hands... Yes, he was black. I was particularly amused after all the talk about increased security, turning off entertainment systems etc. Vegas welcomed us with a beautiful but rather cold day in the desert. All mountains surrounding this strange place were covered with snow. Beautiful! At the airport we met Nan, grad student in our lab and his wife Elena. We stayed at Nan's parents time-share apartment next to the Bellagio, across the street from Paris. Quite a cool view as you can see in the photo album! It was the first time for us in Vegas but definitely not the last. The day and night we spent with Brazilian BBQ (that's where I forgot my credit card (got it back by now)), drinks, clubbing and walking.

Sunday we started with an extensive brunch in Paris (we didn't eat for the next 24 hours) and did the same as the night before but replaced the clubbing part with some gambling (lost everything at the Black Jack table) and a Cirque du Soleil show (O at the Bellagio). The show was really fantastic! Check it out (This is a link)
Words cannot really describe Vegas you have to go and see it. But apparently also Vegas suffers from the recession. We were told that business has slowed down a lot in the last year. And Nan pointed out that it was rather empty. On Monday we missed our flight home because we were a little late... No problem, the next flight was 1 hour later. We managed to get called on this one as well! The first time I got called twice for two different flights.
