Two weeks ago we had Patrick a biologist we know from Basel and Celeste for one night at our place. Patrick did postdoc in Princeton on the East Coast (New Jersey, close to NY) and after he quit the job he and Celeste drove across the US and then up north to Vancouver. So they stopped in San Diego and we spent a day at the beach together. Monday they continued their road trip and 2 days ago we got a Fedex delivery (we love surprises) with a beach chair from them to say thank you. Now it's up to us to say thanks!
Yesterday Selina had invited Fabio (also from the Biozentrum) and Viviane for diner. He will start a postdoc at UCSD (University of California San Diego). Over beer, whine and spaghettis we gave them some advice on how to start live as a postdoc.
