People often ask us how we experience the presidential elections here in the country where it happens. First, we are not allowed to vote. Only US citizens are. Second, we do follow it but we don't have any newspaper and we do not watch the news regularly. What I can tell you after watching part of the debates between Obama and McCain and the Vice President candidates is that it's just boring and annoying. There is obviously need for major changes in the US politics and both candidates don't get tired of stressing that. But, compared to political campaigns that we are used to from Europe everything both sides say sounds more like slogans. Lower taxes. Healthcare for everyone. Not accept Russia's aggressions. Fight the financial crisis. Of course they come up with some more details but I'm just annoyed. It's all a show for the voters and they spend more time accusing the other or clarifiying what they have said or not than talking about specific programs. It's boring and the only hope I have is that we will see a major change in politics in November!

Amerika ist eine einzige Show. Das wissen wir seit Peter Bichsel, 1969.
