Our next stop was Big Bear Lake, the hideaway for stressed out Angelenos. It's just about 1.5 hours drive from LA. High up in the mountains (2000m) with a beautiful lake and luxury villas we enjoyed Japanese food and strolls along the lake and the surrounding forest. The most exciting part tough was the drive from Joshua Tree to Big Bear: First we passed a Wild West village once built for a Hollywood movie (see photos). From there we decided to take the adventure road meaning 2 hours offroad driving (we got all wheel drive!) through deserted forests and hills. Glad we did not have any problems with the car...
