The week with the conference was sooo busy. That's why this update comes rather late. Friday after the conference the Winzeler lab organized the happy hour in our building. Selina went shopping with grad student Taylor and organized a nice selection of food and drinks. The only thing they did not consider was the fact that not everyone drinks alcohol... Luckily, our lab had lots of sodas left over from the conference. The night Selina spent with the ladies and I went to sleep at 9 (got up at 11 the next morning). It was an intense week and it was not over yet!
Saturday we drove the Elena's place in Carlsbad. She is an admin in one of the labs in our building. We had some nice wine, food and plenty of laughs and gossip. We left her place already at 10pm because we were invited to another party in La Jolla. This was Wes' birthday in a stunning villa overlooking La Jolla Shores. The first time we were invited to a private party with guest list and security. Lots of friends and scientists there. Sunday we slept. Then we went shopping for Halloween costumes. Didn't buy anything. Selina called it "collecting ideas". I called it boring.
